GuideWell has appointed Amish Patel as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. In this role, he will lead the IT organization, strengthening the company’s digital foundation, advancing data and AI capabilities, and helping enable a simpler, more affordable care experience for members. GuideWell’s leadership materials position the appointment as part of its broader effort to modernize technology in support of members, customers, providers, and communities.
Patel brings more than two decades of experience leading large-scale technology transformation, enterprise modernization, and AI-enabled innovation across healthcare, financial services, and insurance. Before joining GuideWell, he served as Chief Technology Officer at Elevance Health, and earlier held Chief Information Officer roles at Aflac along with senior technology leadership positions at BB&T. GuideWell’s official leadership page and related reporting both describe him as a long-time enterprise technology operator with deep experience across mission-driven and regulated organizations.
Why this matters: For large healthcare and insurance organizations, the CIO role is increasingly tied to business model transformation, not just systems oversight. Bringing in a leader with experience across enterprise modernization, AI enablement, and regulated industries suggests GuideWell is positioning technology as a core lever for member experience, operating efficiency, and long-term digital competitiveness.
