Anand Birje Appointed CEO at Hitachi Digital

Hitachi has appointed Anand Birje as Chief Executive Officer of the combined Hitachi Digital Services and GlobalLogic organization, effective September 1, 2026. Birje will oversee governance and operations across the integrated organization while also leading Hitachi’s Digital Engineering & AI Solutions business unit. His mandate includes accelerating growth and innovation across AI-native software engineering, physical AI, data and intelligence, and managed services while aligning strategy, investment and execution across Hitachi’s digital businesses.

Birje joined Hitachi after serving as Chief Executive Officer of Encora, where he led the AI-native digital engineering company through significant growth and its $2.35 billion acquisition by Coforge in April 2026. Before Encora, he spent more than 15 years at HCL Technologies, most recently as President of Digital Business Services, and was among the founding leaders of its infrastructure services business. Earlier in his career, Birje worked on industrial control systems, SCADA and manufacturing execution systems at Emerson Electric and Capgemini.

Why this matters: Placing Birje over both GlobalLogic and Hitachi Digital Services signals a move toward tighter integration between Hitachi’s digital engineering, AI and managed services capabilities. His experience scaling digital engineering businesses at Encora and HCL Technologies could help Hitachi turn that broader portfolio into a more unified global offering as customers increase investment in AI-native software and the convergence of physical and digital systems.
