Santander US has appointed Bobby Mehra as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Auto Santander US. In the role, he will lead technology strategy and execution for the Auto Santander US business, with a mandate focused on digital modernization, platform advancement, and operational execution. The appointment reflects the company’s continued investment in technology leadership across its auto finance operations.
Mehra brings deep financial services technology experience to the role. Prior to this appointment, he held senior technology leadership positions within Santander’s corporate and investment banking organization in the US, including Managing Director and US Head of Technology for Corporate and Investment Banking. Earlier in his career, he held technology leadership roles at First Data Corporation, Citi, Deutsche Bank, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Société Générale, JPMorgan Chase, and Julius Baer.
Why this matters: Auto finance is under growing pressure to modernize core platforms, improve digital experiences, and tighten execution across lending operations. Appointing a technology leader with deep banking and enterprise architecture experience suggests Santander US is positioning its auto business for a more technology-led operating model, where platform resilience and modernization are directly tied to growth and customer experience.
