Acadia Pharmaceuticals has appointed Carl Segerstrom as Chief People Officer. In this role, he will lead the company’s global people and culture strategy and support the development of talent, leadership, and organizational capabilities. He will serve as a member of Acadia’s executive leadership team as the company advances its next phase of growth.
Segerstrom brings more than 25 years of global human resources leadership experience across the biopharmaceutical industry. He joins Acadia from Merck, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President of Human Resources for the Human Health Division, supporting a global business across 80 countries. During his 17-year career at Merck, he held several senior human resources leadership roles focused on talent strategy, leadership development, learning, performance management, succession planning, analytics, and organizational effectiveness.
Why this matters: Acadia’s appointment of Segerstrom signals a stronger focus on leadership depth and organizational scale as the company continues building in neurological and rare disease therapeutics.
