ChristianaCare has appointed Drew Smith as Chief Data and AI Officer. In his new role, Smith will lead the healthcare organization’s data and AI capabilities, supporting the continued use of analytics and artificial intelligence across clinical, operational and business priorities. He brings experience developing scalable data, analytics and AI capabilities across healthcare and other industries.
Smith joins ChristianaCare from OhioHealth, where he served as Chief Data and Analytics Officer and led capabilities spanning data governance, engineering, business intelligence, AI, machine learning and generative AI. Previously, he was Vice President of Global Data and Analytics at Little Caesars Pizza and Ilitch Companies and led the Analytics Leadership Consortium at the International Institute for Analytics. Earlier, Smith spent 17 years at IKEA in leadership roles across the United States and Europe, including commercial analytics, global data and analytics, business intelligence and data governance.
Why this matters: Smith’s appointment gives ChristianaCare a dedicated executive responsible for connecting enterprise data capabilities with the rapidly expanding role of AI in healthcare. His experience building analytics functions across OhioHealth, Little Caesars and IKEA could help ChristianaCare scale AI beyond individual use cases while keeping data strategy closely aligned with patient, operational and financial outcomes.
