WRITER has announced the appointment of Eric Freeman as its first Chief Information Security Officer. In his new role, Freeman will expand and accelerate WRITER’s end-to-end security strategy, reinforcing the company’s commitment to secure, enterprise-grade AI. The appointment adds a dedicated security leader as WRITER scales its platform for larger enterprise deployments and more security-sensitive use cases.
Freeman brings more than a decade of cybersecurity leadership experience across high-growth SaaS and infrastructure environments. Before joining WRITER, he served as Head of Security at Patreon. Earlier, he was Vice President of Security and Reliability at Blockdaemon and Director of Security at BlockFi, where he built security organizations and led security modernization efforts across multi-cloud environments.
Why this matters: This appointment signals that WRITER is treating security as a core product and go-to-market priority as enterprise AI adoption matures. Bringing in a first CISO with experience across Patreon, Blockdaemon, and BlockFi suggests the company wants stronger trust, governance, and operational rigor as customers evaluate AI platforms not just for capability, but for secure deployment at scale.
