Gigamon has announced the appointment of Gareth Maclachlan as its new Chief Operating Officer. In his new role, Maclachlan will lead cross-functional initiatives to drive customer adoption of Gigamon’s AI-powered Deep Observability Pipeline and hybrid cloud security solutions, while increasing efficiency and delivering greater customer value. The appointment is part of a broader leadership update tied to Gigamon’s cloud strategy and AI-powered deep observability vision.
Maclachlan brings more than 25 years of cybersecurity experience to the role. Most recently, he served as Chief Product and Technology Officer at Trellix, a company formed in 2022 through the merger of McAfee Enterprise and FireEye, where he led more than 1,500 people across engineering, security research, and product management. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership roles at FireEye, AdaptiveMobile, and PwC Consulting.
Why this matters: This appointment signals that Gigamon is aligning operating leadership more tightly with product execution and customer adoption as AI-driven security and observability markets become more competitive. Bringing in an executive with deep product, engineering, and cybersecurity operating experience from Trellix and FireEye suggests Gigamon is prioritizing scale, execution speed, and stronger commercial traction for its AI-powered platform strategy.
