Jason Rolland Appointed CTO at Carbon

Carbon has appointed Jason Rolland as Chief Technology Officer. In this role, he will lead the company’s broader product development and research and development organization, driving the next phase of innovation across hardware, materials, and software. The appointment reinforces Carbon’s focus on advancing additive manufacturing and scaling its technology platform.

Rolland has been with Carbon for more than 12 years and was one of the company’s earliest hires. During his tenure, he built the materials team, co-invented Carbon’s patented dual-cure resin platform, and led the launch of multiple resin products that became major revenue contributors. Prior to Carbon, he was a co-founder of Liquidia, Inc., and his work has resulted in more than 60 issued U.S. patents, with dozens more pending.

Why this matters: Carbon operates in a part of advanced manufacturing where product leadership depends on tight integration across materials science, hardware, and software. Elevating a long-tenured internal innovator with deep technical credibility signals continuity, but also suggests Carbon is prioritizing faster execution and deeper platform innovation as additive manufacturing competition intensifies.
