John Rogers Appointed EVP and CFO at Baxter International

Baxter International has appointed John Rogers as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective October 1, 2026. Reporting to President and Chief Executive Officer Andrew Hider, Rogers will help advance Baxter’s turnaround strategy, strengthen its financial position and sharpen operational execution. His mandate includes supporting greater financial discipline, balance sheet improvement and long-term value creation.

Rogers joins Baxter from Smith+Nephew, where he has served as Chief Financial Officer since 2024 after joining as CFO-designate in 2023. Before Smith+Nephew, he served as Chief Financial Officer of WPP, where he helped lead the company’s global transformation program. He previously held senior leadership roles at J Sainsbury, including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Sainsbury’s Argos, where he led a major digital transformation of its omnichannel business.

Why this matters: Rogers arrives as Baxter focuses on stabilizing its business, strengthening its balance sheet and improving execution following a period of portfolio transformation. His combination of medtech finance experience at Smith+Nephew and large-scale transformation leadership at WPP and J Sainsbury gives Baxter a finance chief with experience navigating both operational restructuring and complex global organizations.
