The Walt Disney Company has appointed Karandeep Anand as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, effective October 2, 2026. The newly created role places Anand in charge of enterprise technology, infrastructure, data and AI platforms, product, and engineering across the company. He will work with technology teams across Disney’s business segments to modernize how technology is built and delivered company-wide, reporting directly to Chief Executive Officer Josh D’Amaro.
Anand joins Disney from Character.AI, where he served as Chief Executive Officer and led the consumer AI platform through a period of significant growth. Previously, he was President and Chief Product Officer at Brex and held several leadership roles at Meta’s Facebook, most recently as Vice President of Ads & Business Products. Earlier in his career, Anand spent 15 years at Microsoft in senior product and engineering positions and was part of the team that built the Azure platform.
Why this matters: Creating a company-wide CTO role signals Disney is bringing technology, data, and AI under more unified executive leadership as it seeks to build more connected digital experiences for consumers. Anand’s background across consumer AI, cloud infrastructure, advertising technology, and fintech gives Disney a technology leader with experience scaling both foundational platforms and consumer-facing products.
