Atom Computing has appointed Kevin Messerle as Chief Financial Officer. In the role, Messerle will strengthen the company’s financial foundation, support strategic investments and help position the business to capitalize on opportunities across the expanding quantum computing market. His appointment comes as Atom Computing advances its technology roadmap and scales operations toward commercially relevant, fault-tolerant quantum systems.
Messerle joins Atom Computing from York Space Systems, where he served as Chief Financial Officer and helped support revenue growth of more than 500%, the company’s 2026 New York Stock Exchange debut and the acquisition of six companies. Previously, he was a senior investment manager at Summit Partners and held investment roles at Davidson Kempner Capital Management and GE Capital. Earlier in his career, Messerle worked as a locomotive design engineer at Wabtec, formerly GE Transportation Systems.
Why this matters: Atom Computing is moving into a capital-intensive phase as it works to scale neutral-atom quantum systems from technical progress toward commercial deployment. Messerle’s combination of public-market, M&A and growth-stage finance experience could strengthen the financial infrastructure needed to fund that expansion and navigate an increasingly competitive quantum computing market.
