Wecom Fiber has appointed Kevin Stamey as Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Stamey will lead design and engineering, construction delivery and Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program execution. His mandate includes overseeing the operational delivery of Wecom Fiber’s broadband expansion across northern and western Arizona, connecting more homes and businesses to high-speed fiber infrastructure.
Stamey joins Wecom Fiber from Astound, where he served as Vice President of West Coast Operations. He led construction, engineering and field operations during a period of rapid growth and played a central role in planning and securing BEAD funding and other grant-supported infrastructure projects. He brings decades of experience building and scaling fiber networks, with expertise in large-scale construction delivery and broadband infrastructure operations.
Why this matters: Stamey’s appointment comes as Wecom Fiber executes one of Arizona’s largest broadband expansion programs, supported by nearly $196 million in BEAD funding to connect approximately 66,000 homes and businesses in underserved communities. His experience managing large-scale fiber construction and grant-funded projects at Astound could help Wecom translate its investment commitments into network deployment while maintaining operational discipline across its eight-county footprint.
