Tanium has appointed co-founder Orion Hindawi as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Hindawi returns to the CEO role after serving as Executive Chairman since 2023. He will lead Tanium as the company deepens its Autonomous IT capabilities, expands AI offerings across its portfolio and strengthens engagement with customers and partners. Dan Streetman is stepping down as CEO and from the Board of Directors and will advise the company during the transition.
Hindawi co-founded Tanium with David Hindawi in 2007 and previously served as its Chief Executive Officer from 2016 to 2023, leading significant growth and helping develop the technical architecture underlying its enterprise security platform. Before Tanium, he spent several years at BigFix, where he served as Vice President of Technology and helped develop enterprise-scale endpoint security and management technology. BigFix was acquired by IBM in 2010.
Why this matters: Hindawi’s return puts a founder and technical architect back in the CEO role as Tanium pushes further into Autonomous IT and AI-powered security. His experience building both BigFix and Tanium gives the company leadership with deep knowledge of endpoint management at a time when AI-driven automation and increasingly sophisticated threats are changing how enterprises manage and secure IT environments.
