Ares Management has appointed Vijay Kasarabada as its new Chief Information Officer. In this role, he will lead the firm’s technology agenda and help strengthen the digital, data, cybersecurity, and operational foundations that support Ares’ global platform. The appointment places Kasarabada in a central leadership role as Ares continues to scale its technology and security capabilities.
Kasarabada brings more than 27 years of leadership experience across technology, data management, cybersecurity, and operations in global financial institutions. Before joining Ares, he served as Chief Information Officer at Nuveen, the asset management subsidiary of TIAA, and earlier as Chief Technology Officer at Lazard. Prior to that, he spent 11 years at BlackRock in several leadership roles, including Head of Alternatives Technology.
Why this matters: Bringing in a CIO with experience across Nuveen, Lazard, and BlackRock signals that Ares is treating technology as a strategic lever for scale, not just infrastructure support. In private markets, where platform resilience, data architecture, and operational complexity increasingly shape competitive advantage, this kind of appointment points to a stronger push toward enterprise-grade technology leadership.
