Vikram Nafde Appointed EVP and CTO at Santander US

Santander US has appointed Vikram Nafde as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. In his new role, Nafde will lead technology shared services across the combined organization, including U.S. infrastructure, data and architecture. His appointment follows Santander’s acquisition of Webster Financial Corporation and brings him into the company’s executive technology leadership as the two organizations integrate.

Nafde joins Santander US from Webster Bank, where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer and led technology strategy across software engineering, data, architecture, artificial intelligence, infrastructure and cybersecurity. He joined Webster in 2020 as Senior Vice President, Head of Software Engineering, Digital Delivery and Agility before becoming Chief Information Officer in 2022. Earlier in his career, Nafde held technology leadership roles at Bridgewater Associates, GE Asset Management, Genpact and Starwood. He brings more than 25 years of experience in large-scale digital transformation, technology operations and strategic planning.

Why this matters: Nafde’s appointment places an executive with direct knowledge of Webster’s technology environment in charge of key shared platforms as Santander integrates the acquired bank into its U.S. operations. His experience leading cloud, data, AI, cybersecurity and large-scale banking transformation could help Santander reduce integration complexity while building a more unified technology foundation across its expanded U.S. business.
