Durst Group AG has appointed Wolfgang Knotz as Chief Technology Officer. In this role, he will lead the group-wide technology agenda, with a focus on integrating software, data, automation, and new business models as the company continues its transformation into a technology-driven solutions provider. The appointment also brings him into the company’s Core Leadership Team.
Knotz is a long-time Durst executive who has held several leadership roles within the company since joining in 2013. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of Durst Austria, where he was responsible for technological and operational activities at the Lienz site and played a central role in shaping the company’s production and technology structures. Before joining Durst, he worked at Siemens.
Why this matters: This appointment signals that Durst is treating technology leadership as central to its next phase of growth, not just to product development. Elevating a long-time internal operator with deep knowledge of both hardware and software integration suggests the company wants continuity as it pushes further into connected, data-driven, and automated production systems.
