Banner Health has appointed Dr. John Rares Almasan as Senior Vice President, Chief AI, Data and Infrastructure Officer. In this newly created role, he will lead the health system's enterprise artificial intelligence, data, and infrastructure initiatives, overseeing technology modernization while advancing AI capabilities that improve patient care, streamline operations, and support innovation across the organization.
Dr. Almasan joins Banner Health from TIAA, where he most recently served as Senior Managing Director and Global Head of AI and Emerging Technology. Before TIAA, he led AI and cloud initiatives at McKinsey & Company and held senior technology leadership roles at Nationwide Insurance, American Express, and Bank of America. He brings more than two decades of experience driving enterprise AI, data, and digital transformation across financial services and consulting.
