eSentire has appointed James C. Foster as Chief Executive Officer. In this role, he will lead the company’s next phase of growth as it advances its AI-powered Managed Detection and Response platform and strengthens its position in the cybersecurity market. Foster succeeds Kerry Bailey, who is retiring after leading the company through a period of sustained growth.
Foster brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across cybersecurity and AI. Before joining eSentire, he served as Chief Executive Officer of IronCircle, and he is also Board Chairman at Censinet. Earlier in his career, he founded ZeroFox and previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Ciphent, building a track record of scaling cybersecurity businesses across public and private markets.
Why this matters: eSentire operates in a category where scale, platform credibility, and speed of response are becoming more important as AI reshapes both cyber defense and cyber threats. Bringing in a leader with experience building market-defining security companies suggests eSentire is positioning for a more aggressive growth phase, with sharper emphasis on AI-driven MDR differentiation and category leadership.
