IRIS Software Group has appointed Surya R. Sagi as Chief Data and AI Officer, the company’s first executive role dedicated to data and artificial intelligence at the enterprise level. In this role, he will lead IRIS’ global data and AI strategy, including data governance and the company’s responsible AI framework. His mandate includes scaling AI capabilities, strengthening responsible practices, and unlocking high-impact opportunities across products, managed services, growth, and retention.
Sagi brings more than 30 years of experience building data and AI platforms, scaling cloud-native software-as-a-service businesses, and leading platform integration across enterprise and regulated environments. Most recently, he founded ARKA AI and ARKA Advisors, helping enterprises move from AI experimentation to governed, outcome-driven implementation. Previously, he served as Chief Technology Officer at Pitney Bowes.
Why this matters: IRIS’ creation of a Chief Data and AI Officer role signals a stronger push to make AI a structured part of its product, service, and customer value strategy. For a software provider serving accountancy, payroll, HR, and education markets, Sagi’s background in governed AI implementation and enterprise platforms is directly relevant as customers look for faster insights, stronger automation, and more reliable decision support.
